Our Mission

The aim of the Thunderbird Adventist Academy Athletic Department is to provide opportunities for students to reach their physical potential.

Our Vision

Our newest addition to the music department is the Thunderbird String Orchestra, which provides a musical opportunity for serious and committed young musicians.

Thunderbird Adventist Academy is a private school that is governed by its own School Operating Board under the direction of the Seventh-day Adventist Conference.

Graduation Requirements

TAA offers a standard diploma (240 credits minimum) and a college-preparatory diploma (280 credits minimum). The college prep program requires 4 years of English, religion, mathematics or science, 3 years of math or science, history, physical education, 2 years of modern language, fine arts, practical arts, and electives.

A 9th grade proficiency on Standardized Test in Language Arts & Mathematics for standard diploma. A 10th grade proficiency on a standardized test in Language Arts & Mathematics for college-preparatory diploma.

AP/Honors Courses

AP English & AP Calculus; Honors Physics

Academic Program

TAA offers a college preparatory education enriched with honors and advanced placement courses as well as a variety of electives, primarily in the arts. Students appreciate the safe and friendly environment of the campus. They love the family atmosphere in the dorms and classrooms, where God is at the center of all they hear and do.


To be eligible to apply to Thunderbird Adventist Academy, the applicant must satisfy one of the following conditions at the time of enrollment:

  • Show evidence of completion of eighth grade with passing grades in English and math and have a composite score of at least 50% on a national or state recognized standardized achievement test.

  • Transfer from an approved secondary school, with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 and have a composite score of at least 50% on a national or state recognized standardized achievement test.

  • Be at least 14 years of age before August 15 of the current school year and pass a placement test, with at least 90%.

Typically more than 93% of graduates proceed directly to higher education, with the majority of those attending four-year institutions.
